Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu announced the Mukhyamantri Vidhwa Evam Akel Nari Awas Yojana to provide financial security to women. Under this plan, widows, divorced, and deserted women will get financial help from the government to build houses. About 7000 women in Himachal Pradesh will benefit from this scheme.
This scheme provides Rs. 1.50 lakh financial support for house construction. In addition, Rs. 12,000 is given for building separate toilets. The money will be directly transferred to the bank accounts of the beneficiary women through DBT (Direct Benefit Transfer). This will help women have safe homes with basic facilities. The Women and Child Development Department will manage this scheme.
